Tasca La Farmacía: a quirky eatery in barrio Castellana

If you thought we are done with Spain just because I have moved to Switzerland, you would be sorely mistaken. I still have a few months-worth of Spanish eating and I am more than happy to share the places we have visited over the summer months of 2022.

  • Casa Lucas: pintchos in an old school bar

Casa Lucas: pintchos in an old school bar

We visited Casa Lucas just after our trip to Aragon and Navarre where we ate nothing but pintchos. I did not plan it to be like this but we ended up eating more of these scrumptious sandwich tapas in Madrid and Casa Lucas did not disappoint!

  • Chuka Ramen Bar: a Japanese place it ain’t

Chuka Ramen Bar: a Japanese place it ain’t

The title is misleading, of course, Chuka Ramen Bar is a Japanese place or, rather, a pan-Asian fusion restaurant serving a variety of East Asian inspired items, bao and ramen the two most prominent amongst them. Chuka Ramen Bar was one interesting place indeed.

  • La Venencia: a veritable sherry institution

La Venencia: a veritable sherry institution

There is nothing here I can tell you about La Venencia that would do it justice. La Venencia needs to be visited to truly appreciate its unique nature. It is truly one of a kind and an experience in itself. It is a no nonsense institution that celebrates sherry in Madrid.

Poor man’s dinner: random pizza it is

  • Antonio Sánchez: taberna dating back to 1787

Antonio Sánchez: taberna dating back to 1787

Taberna Antonio Sánchez is THE historic place to find yourself for a drink or a meal. Dating back to 1787, it calls itself the oldest taberna in Madrid and rightly so. The interior is gloriously old school, the service – questionable at best – and the food and wine delicious!

  • Middle Eastern food for the win!

Middle Eastern food for the win!

I have been craving for some good Middle Eastern food but for the longest of times I could not figure out where to go in order to find something decent. Well, fret not, because I managed to hit two birds with one stone by coming across La Hummuseria+Falafeleria duo.

  • Pez Tortilla: nothing but tortilla española!

Pez Tortilla: nothing but tortilla española!

Tortilla española is probably the most well known tapa in the entirety of Spain, at least it is one of the most popular choices in Madrid. We have already tried many tortillas and when I learned about this place that focuses solely on this dish, I had to check it out!
